From 6 to 8 June, we organised a seminar in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), in the framework of the "Club Health" project, led by the Utrip Institute, inviting key players and experts in the field of youth risk behaviour.
The main purpose of the seminar was to present the draft products of the project:
- findings of a comparative study;
- health and safety standards in nightlife venues;
- training for staff in nightclubs, bars, etc;
- criteria for cities to manage nightlife more effectively; and
- media influences on nightlife.
We hosted several prominent experts and decision-makers, including the head of the Spanish Association of Nightclubs and Discos, the head of the regional government programme on drugs and addictions, the chair of the EMCDDA Board, the director of the Portuguese IDT (National Institute for Drugs and Addictions), the vice-mayor of Luxembourg, a representative of the Slovenian Ministry of Health, etc. The guests contributed significantly to the content of the seminar with their views, opinions and comments. Part of the seminar was also devoted to the organisational issues of the Club Health Conference, which will take place from 12 to 14 December 2011 in Prague (Czech Republic).
